Happy Birthday… to ME!!!

ImageThe picture above is not mine but I am turning 24 years old this year!

Woo hoo me! 😀

Aaannywayyyy, this birthday is the loneliest because here I am, thousands of miles away from home (I’m from Malaysia but working in Vietnam) with no family around and no friends too ( well, there’s my roommate :P), and I feel kinda lonely. *sigh*

But it’s not a big deal. It’s just a day where you get a year older after all, right? RIGHT? Who am I kidding ? 😥

I’ll try not to be too depressed (lol!) and try to enjoy the rest of the day. 😀

Have a good Sunday, everyone!

Deciding on what is a ‘Want’ and what is a ‘Need’.

I’m going to be a year older very soon and I need to get my priorities straight in order to achieve my goal.

Oh, I’m not that old. On 28th July 2013, I would have been on this earth for 24 years not counting the 9 months I’ve spent in my mother’s womb.

Anyway, recently I’ve started to think about life, its meaning, and stuff like that. I can’t help but feel depressed LOL. I would love to travel the world one day without a care in the world. I would love to retire early (by 30 perhaps?) I would love to own my own business ( still deciding on a clothing shop for children or a guesthouse :P) and the list goes on…

My goals are different but they do have one thing in common. IT NEEDS A LOT OF MONEY. Hence, the purpose of writing this post. And, reviving my WordPress blog which I have abandoned for God knows how long. I write this post as a motivation, a reminder for myself as to why I am putting myself in such following circumstance for the coming months.

For the past year, I have been reading a number of personal finance websites like Wisebread, Dimespring 30, KcLau, Get Rich Slowly, etc… One of those days, I stumbled to this one site called andthenshesaved.com. Her posts are enlightening and inspiring.

One post in particular caught my attention which is the Spending Diet. She has a post about Spending Fast too but I figure out abstaining myself to that extent would leave me bitter (LOL). So I believe a Spending Diet is a much better and sane option for me (her post is here).

Basically what the diet requires is, make a list of needs and wants. Try to reduce the costs for the needs. Stop spending money (urgh! this is the hardest for me). Give yourself a monthly allowance for your wants. And that’s it. Sounds simple enough. 😀

I believe I should write down what are my monthly fixed expenses first. And then deciding what are my ‘Wants’. Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that I want. 😛

Year. Months. Weeks. Days.

When I break it down like this, it looks daunting. Can I do it?
